About Me

ERIC JOHNSON works in his studios in CA and AZ under “Designs by Eric”. Eric has been painting since the age of fifteen working with acrylics. His acrylic paintings incorporate real and imaginary infused in a spontaneous wash of vibrant color. He uses an airbrush technique to bring out fine details. Eric refers to his art as abstract romanticism- being part of a specific matter with a romantic spirit or style. Most of his paintings have this abstract, romantic, and some a humorous expression.
Eric later began experimenting with epoxy resins, challenging himself creatively. The techniques of applied resin over texture and sculptor has produced 3-D art amazingly vibrant with reality. Smiley Fish and friends took him on a whimsical adventure of the same sort. He is constantly searching for a final piece interesting enough to stimulate his visual sense as well as draw others into his creative world.
Whether he's using acrylic paint or polymer resin, the main emphasis is creating an atmosphere which will invite the viewer into a world of visual storytelling.
